- Contractors must submit CPA audited financial statements and
experience information.
- Bid limits are set based on a three part formula.
- Prequalification is for one year and applications must be made
within four months of the financial statement date.
- Processing time for Prequalification is from two to three weeks.
- Applicants must take a written exam covering business, finance
and construction subjects. A passing grade of 70% is required.
- Four years of experience is required of applicants
- A credit report and financial statement not over 12 months old
is required of applicants.
- Proof of a net worth ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 (depending
on the classification) is required of applicants.
- An examination fee of $350 and a licensing fee of $200 is required
for a two year license.
- Renewal fees are $200 for a two year period.
- Application processing time averages 30 days.
- Applicants must pass an examination consisting of technical,
general business and safety subjects with a score of at least
75%
- Experience requirements range from three to six years depending
on the type of experience.
- Applicants must provide credit reports and financial statements.
Net worth must be a minimum of $5,000 or $10,000 depending on
classifications
- Liability and property damage insurance is required
- An initial examination, application and license fee totals $600
for a two year license
- The two year renewal fee is $300.
- The average time for processing an application is 30 days.
- Contractors must execute a payment/performance bond when awarded
a public works contract exceeding $100,000.
- The governing authority awarding the contract may exempt the
contractor from the bond requirement if the contract does not
exceed $200,000.
